Crochet Small Hearts

Embellishing knitted or crochet items is always a nice way to personalise them either for yourself or as gifts. In the how to… section I aim to share ideas with you.

Crochet Hearts

These crochet hearts are surprisingly easy and a nice addition to any project.

I make one heart to sew straight onto a project.  If you crochet 2, stuff very lightly and then sew together neatly around the edge, this makes a a nice 3d version to attach or hang.

You do need know how to create a magic circle, do single crochet, double crochet and triple crochet stitches to make these. Keep the magic circle hole quite open to keep working your stitches into the centre, move them round as you go if it gets a bit crowded.  It will all pull up at then end, if it looks messy keep going!

I used a 3.5mm crochet hook and a small amount of Sirdar Happy Cotton Yarn.

Instructions

Make a magic circle (mc) and chain 2.  You now work all the stitches below into the centre of the magic circle (so all the stitches go into the same space).

3 treble crochet Sts into circle

3 double crochet Sts into circle- Chain 1

1 treble crochet stich into circle – Chain 1

3 double crochet stitches into circle

3 treble stitches into circle – Chain 2 and do a slip stitch into the centre of the circle.

Chain 1 cut yarn and pull through this stitch to fasten off.  Pull everything up nice and tight.

You have completed one heart.
