The strip curls automatically or you can help it along by doing a small gather with the long tail. I did 3 strips for a beard, the first one with 30 stitches, second one with 20 stitches and the third one with 10 stitches. So, cast on the amount of stitches then cast off straight away knitwise. I used white dk yarn and 3.5mm needles.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-872 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/strip3sml.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"150\" data-wp-editing=\"1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/strip3sml.jpg 360w, https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/strip3sml-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-871 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/3stripscomp3sml.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"150\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-876 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/sewstrips3150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"134\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Arrange the three strips and then sew them together at the top.\u00a0 Attach to the gnome just under its nose.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Loopy Knitted Beard<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-854\" src=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/redloopy3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/redloopy3.jpg 460w, https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/redloopy3-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This beard is just a small patch of loopy knitting.\u00a0 This is a bit more challenging for those of you who have not attempted loop stitch knitting before, please google loopy knitting as there are many tutorials on this.\u00a0 Have a little practice but you will only need a small patch of this maybe 10 stitches or so.\u00a0 Fold or roll round to fit before stitching on. I used white dk yarn and 3.5mm needles.<\/p>\n<h4>Pom Pom\/Gathered Strands Beard<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-975\" src=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/pompombeard3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"357\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/pompombeard3.jpg 357w, https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/pompombeard3-300x256.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 357px) 100vw, 357px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You could make a small pom pom shape in white or your contrast colour.
