{"id":2543,"date":"2026-08-05T12:18:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T11:18:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/?p=2543"},"modified":"2026-08-05T14:03:40","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T13:03:40","slug":"crochet-hook-pouch-free-pattern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/05\/crochet-hook-pouch-free-pattern\/","title":{"rendered":"Crochet Hook Storage Pouch &#8211; Free Pattern"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This pattern is for you to create a pouch\/case ideal for crochet hooks.\u00a0 The pattern is beginner friendly and worked in continuous rounds, the only stitches used are a single crochet stitch and a single crochet increase (U.S crochet terms).\u00a0 The pattern shows how I arrived at the design below, it can be altered for a longer pouch.\u00a0 The pouch shown below was worked in stripes using denim coloured yarn (Lion Brand Denim Yarn and 4.5mm hook).\u00a0 Good Pattern for stash yarn and scraps of your favourite colours.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2555 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/hookcase.jpg\" alt=\"free crochet pouch pattern from cooldenim\" width=\"612\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/hookcase.jpg 612w, https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/hookcase-230x300.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2557 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/twopouchestext2.jpg\" alt=\"crochet hook pouch pattern\" width=\"800\" height=\"641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/twopouchestext2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/twopouchestext2-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cooldenim.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/twopouchestext2-768x615.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>The images shows pouches made with lion brand denim yarn (Aran weight) on a size 4.5mm hook.\u00a0 Multi coloured yarns would work well as you would get different colours without having to change colours.<\/p>\r\n<h5>Techniques used:\u00a0<\/h5>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>SC &#8211; single crochet (pattern written in US terms)<\/li>\r\n<li>Inc &#8211; increase by crocheting 2 stitches into the same stitch<\/li>\r\n<li>Mc &#8211; starts with a magic circle or the method you use to start a circle in crochet<\/li>\r\n<li>Worked in continuous rounds using a marker for reference.<\/li>\r\n<li>Colour Change every two rows<\/li>\r\n<li>ch1 &#8211; chain 1<\/li>\r\n<li>Images used Lion Brand Denim Yarn with 4.5mm hook &#8211; my button is 19mm<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Use any stash yarn you have, the yarn shown is classed as Aran Weight (UK) Worsted or Heavy Worsted (US) 10ply.\u00a0 Recommend using a hook half a size down to what is recommended on the band.<\/p>\r\n<h5>Instructions and Method<\/h5>\r\n<p>Start by making a magic circle with 6 stitches (shown starting with the lighter colour). Use a marker to count rows if needed.<br \/>Round 1.\u00a0 Increase in every stitch (12 stitches)<br \/>Round 2.\u00a0 (SC1 stitch and increase in next) repeat this 6 times (18 stitches)<br \/>Round 3.\u00a0 SC4, increase in next stitch, SC8, increase in next stitch, SC4 (20 stitches)<br \/>Round 4.\u00a0 SC20<br \/>Round 5. SC20<br \/>Round 6. Change colour to darker colour SC20<br \/>Round 7. SC20<br \/>Round 8.\u00a0 Change colour to lighter colour SC20<br \/>Round 9. SC20<br \/>Repeat rows 6,7,8,&amp; 9 &#8211; 4 more times<br \/>Repeat 6, 7 &amp; 8 once more &#8211; you are now ready to proceed to the next part which is the fold over top.\u00a0 (you will have 6 darker stripes and just completed a light round)<br \/>&#8211; Stay with the lighter yarn<br \/>SC6, chain 1 and turn (for the rest of the pattern after turning go into the <strong>second stitch from the hook<\/strong>)<br \/>SC11, ch1 and turn<br \/>SC10, ch1 and turn<br \/>SC9, ch1 and turn<br \/>SC8, ch1 and turn<br \/>SC7, ch1 and turn<br \/>SC6, ch1 and turn<br \/>SC5 turn and chain 4 slip stitch into the last stitch on this row so you have made a hole\/loop which will be for the button. See images below. Fasten off .<\/p>\r\n<p>Join the darker colour at base of the flap\/fold over part as shown below and work around the edge with a Single crochet working into and around the top edge of the chain 4 .\u00a0 This leaves a hole for the button.\u00a0 Continue round to the end of the flap and fasten off.
