These denim storage basket bowls are a quick and easy make using scraps of denim and any other fabric you may have.\u00a0 Full tutorial on how to make them are in this post, they really do take 10 minutes.<\/p>\r\n

\"\"I watch crafters on you tube and am always fascinated by how organised some of you are, I make all kinds of things but never little things for myself to make my creating easier!.\u00a0 As a result I recently made some little bowls using scraps of denim and fabric.\u00a0 These take ten minutes to make and are so easy and so useful.\u00a0 They were inspired by a hand sewn make, my version are a few minutes on a sewing machine, then pulled up with a drawstring.\u00a0 Finished baskets\/bowls are approximately 7cm across and 4cm deep, perfect for clips and pins.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Cut 2 squares of fabric, mine were 15cm x 15cm.\u00a0 Leave the denim one as it is it but trim the other one (shown in mickey fabric) to be 14cmx14cm.<\/p>\r\n

With the wrong sides together centre the smaller one and sew a seam around the edge.\u00a0 I slightly distressed the denim edges.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Fold the corners in as shown in the image above, leaving the straight part 5cm and the two 5cm corners are folded up. (This is divided into 3 if you are doing a different size) – Do this for the other two corners so it looks like the image above.\u00a0 Now sew a seam all around the edge about 1 cm from the edge.\u00a0 Make sure you meet the seam where you started.<\/p>\r\n

Your sewn square now looks like the image above (left).\u00a0 I trimmed the points off this one just for decoration.\u00a0 Get 2 lengths of cord or yarn (approx. 50\/60cm).\u00a0 Using a needle and working from one side thread round through all the channels you have just sewn (image above in the middle), then starting on the opposite side do the same again (image above right).\u00a0 This is the same when doing any drawstring so you may have done this before, it enables you to pull the cords from either side.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Pull the cord up tight and push the corners of the basket out to shape.\u00a0 Tie the cords with a knot and cut or tie a bow if you prefer.\u00a0 You could also use ribbon if you wanted a different look.<\/p>\r\n
